Lambing Day

Grab your wellies!

Come and join us on March the 30th and April the 6th as we celebrate the lambing season and welcome our new woolly neighbours – our gorgeous newborn lambs who we are expecting to make an appearance around this time. During the day we will have music, BBQ, activities for children courtesy of Robin’s Nest, cakes, snacks and hot drinks, plus our very knowledgeable farmers will be on hand to answer any questions you might have about our sheep, and be there to lend a helping hand to any birthing mothers too! Our maternity ward is the sheep barn and you are welcome to come in to get a little closer to the lambs and their mothers, and like any ward, please be considerate! We have 50 expectant Wiltshire Horn ewes and approximately half are expecting one lamb, the other half twins. Sometime we might even see three! Our beautiful Wiltshire Horn sheep are an old traditional breed and are self-shedding which means they don’t have to be shorn. They mostly eat grass, and hay when they are in the barn, although we do sometimes give them a bit of grain to boost their nutritional levels just before they are about to pop. But please ask our farmers for anything else you might want to know.

We look forward to seeing you at this magical time in the farming season.
