Vacancy for shop/veg stall assistant

Tablehurst Farm Shop has a vacancy for an assistant to work in our farm shop, with particular responsibility for the vegetable stall.

Working hours are Monday and Friday 7.30am to 2.00pm and Saturday 7.30am to 4.00pm, with a meal break each day.

Pay is £8.21 per hour and we provide a free lunch on days that you are working.

The shop is the public face of Tablehurst. It is therefore important that the successful candidate is sympathetic to biodynamic community farming and willing to develop his/her knowledge and understanding of the farm, as well as the market garden and shop.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team and assist in the day to day operation of the vegetable stall and shop as necessary. Tasks will include:

  • Setting up the vegetable stall at the start of the day
  • Keeping the vegetable stall well stocked and tidy throughout the day
  • Helping to keep the shop fully stocked throughout the day
  • Serving customers, including the use of the tills and handling money.
  • General cleaning tasks around the shop area

We are looking for a natural team player with strong communication and organisational skills, who is capable of shouldering responsibility and working on their own initiative. A reasonable level of physical fitness is necessary as the successful candidate will be on their feet for most of the day and will need to lift and carry stock.

Please apply in writing including a CV to Tracey Marshall, Interim Shop Manager, either by email to tablehurstfarmshop@gmail.com, or by post to Tablehurst Farm, London Road, Forest Row, RH18 5DP. If you would like an informal chat before you apply, please call Tracey on 01342 823173 (option 1).

We will accept applications until Friday 17th May. However, we may interview suitable candidates at an earlier date and we reserve the right to make an appointment as soon as a suitable candidate has been identified.
